Textbook bait and switch

Today, 8 year old Skate Kid and I went on a long drive and on the way back from our destination, I asked him where he would like to stop to eat and he said, "Burger King". This is fine. In our house, for inconsequential decisions, the kids are the boss.

Anyway, we walk on in Burger King and are met with the above advertising poster for their "stackers". I don't know what a stacker is and don't much care but I thought it was a pretty cool poster. They definitely had the Big Country - Steeltown theme going. Kind of neat.

As we were eating, someone came in and ordered one of those stackers. I thought, Hey this advertising is working!

Not so fast! The girl behind the counter explained that their location does not sell stackers because it requires an extra large grill which they don't have. The nearest Burger King with one of those grills was about 5 miles away and she directed him there if he wanted that.

The customer then asked the obvious; that being why do you advertise them here if you cannot sell them?

The response: "That is poster they give us."

Not so neat after all.
