Though in my distant past, it was quite different.
That's ok. It's just not the thing for me now.
That said, I make no judgements as to others. I know that most people do drink responsibly.
Well anyway once or twice a year, I am at a work dinner function with our Executive staff and/or an important client where I "kind of" have to have an alcoholic drink in front of me.
This is fine. Part of the job.
I end up ordering one or two drinks over the course of the night and nurse them while mingling.
Well we had one of those functions last week.
A friendly colleague of mine who knows of my "drinking status" came up to me and asked (rather mischievously) what I was "drinking".
I told him "gin and tonic".
He asked "why gin and tonic?"
I said, of course, "Cold gin".
I got a smile and a hook 'em horns before he left.*
Best part of the night.
