Actually, Kid Rock grew up not too far from me in Romeo, Michigan.
I once even went to a house party in Romeo.
Very interesting.
First off, they were all drinking whiskey out of a bottle. They all had their own too. It was like what they did in Romeo. No shot glasses or even paper cups! Nope; straight from the bottle.
Then they started smokin' "funny things". I don't exactly know what it was. I thought it was maybe apricot extract but my buddy thought it was dried Arby's horsey sauce. Anyway, one guy was using a pipe but another guy had rolling papers. No consistency. The only "Smokin" me and my buddy liked was that Boston song so we declined any other type of smokin'.
Next, we heard this song that was the favorite song of a couple (now divorced) friends of ours that were there. We started to look for them to tell them that their favorite song was on but couldn't find them. Then we went to the basement but the door was locked for some reason. Didn't see them the rest of the night.
Another thing. Even though Romeo was probably about a 24 hour drive from Alabama, they played "Sweet Home Alabama" like ALL THE TIME. Especially in the summer! Not so much in the winter. They did this even after most of that band died in a plane crash when they didn't put enough gas in the plane. Romeo people sure kept their memory alive!
