"To Hell with that!"*

The local minor league hockey team that we support just announced that a Christian rock band will play a concert after one of the games in January.

I asked my two boys, ages 14 and 8 and who both like rock & roll, if they wanted to stay after the game to watch the concert. The answer was an emphatic "NO!"

You can probably guess the word that turned them off. Can't say I am surprised really.

Well we are Catholic which qualifies as a Christian religion and of course there is plenty of music in our church, which I like, but I think has an opposite affect on my boys and that is ok I guess. Perhaps more importantly, I am sure my older boy is aware of the negative stigma, in these parts anyway, which follows Christian rock music. Fair enough.

I will say this. Unless that Christian rock band wants to spend  the rest of their existence playing before mostly empty halls and arenas, I think what they should do is REALLY crank it up like Stryper; so loud that nobody could hear the lyrics anyway. If people don't know what you are saying, potentially everybody could be a fan! No yellow though but I think that goes without saying.

Worked for Stryper for a while anyway.

Otherwise, I am out of ideas.

*No they didn't say that! They can't talk like that. It just fit.

I actually worked in a Christian bookstore when Stryper was. . . well, er, "cool-ish."

Shame. Utter shame.

Still around. "Cool-ish" is decades in the past though.
