So apparently Abby Sunderland's family is unable to pay the Australian government the $300,000 cost to rescue her

Since the Australians are civilized and not Somali pirates, we apparently do not have a hostage situation.

I do think a monster lien on her future earnings including screenplays, movie rights etc is in order. They can be "business partners" until this $300,000 is paid off.

Hey they could have taken her hostage or returned her to the boat!
