Peter Mucha of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Nicole King of Williamstown found a cell phone at the scene of a May 8th motorcycle accident that sent a man to the hospital in critical condition.
The mother of the man later received a phone call from Ms. King advising that she had her son's phone but wanted a reward for it's return.
The victim's (double victim now) family refused to pay a reward and it was then that Ms. King began to play hardball. As to the whereabouts of the phone, Ms. King then said "she possibly lost it" and then said that it "was possibly in the trash" and then she said they "should check the dump".
She finally said she thought she threw the phone back on the street where she found it saying "It did not pay to be a good samaritan".
What a peach!
Unfortunately, the phone has not been found but there is something of a happy ending to this tale of human depravity.
Ms. King has been charged with theft by the Gloucester Township police and a court date is pending.
Presumably at that time a judge will instruct her on the difference between a "reward" and a "ransom".
