The Vatican makes peace with the Beatles

Alessandra Rizzo of AP reports that the Vatican has finally made peace with the Beatles, saying their drug use, "dissolute" lives and their claim that the band was bigger than Jesus are all in the past.

The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano paid tribute to the Beatles last weekend. Here are some excerpts from two articles.

"It's true, they took drugs, swept up by their success, they lived dissolute and uninhibited lives," said the paper. "They even said they were more famous than Jesus."

"But, listening to their songs, all of this seems distant and meaningless. Their beautiful melodies, which changed forever pop music and still give us emotions, live on like precious jewels."

Wow! That's progress I guess.

I bet they take a second look at Ozzy and Dio next.

Hopefully soon too because RJD hasn't been doing so well since his battle with Cancer. He looks like it has taken its toll on him and he has aged 20 years. He has definitely seen better days but is fighting through it.

Yes, I have followed his saga on blabbermouth.com though strangely I saw he has scheduled a show with Iron Maiden somewhere in Europe this fall. I thought it was a missprint but it wasn't. We will see if he pulls it off.
