So I saw my first action of the Winter Olympics last night as I caught some of the hockey game between Canada and Russia.
I should preface this by saying that I never played hockey but I do attend around 20-25 OHL and NHL games a year so I am not completely uninformed.
I would say this to the Russian goaltender, Evgeni Nabokov:
Patrol the net. You know guard it. Try and cover the whole net and keep pucks out.
Anything shot in there by the other team is a goal (for them).
For pucks shot at you, try and catch them. If too hard, block them and shoot the puck away. Get it out of there.*
Again, cover the net.
After that, you can work on technique but for now, let's start with this stuff.
It is the Olympics and all so we are really gonna put this on an accelerated schedule ok?
See you first thing in the morning.
*My wife goes to one or two games a year. She does not know off-sides or icing or anything like that but she does know "Get it out of there!"

"Get it out of there"....My ex-wife used to say that alot.
Seriously I think the Goalies have it the hardest!
No doubt and they are certainly in the spotlight but some of those mistakes last night you rarely see even in junior hockey. It's unlikely you will see so many mistakes by a goalie in one game like that.
