On a serious note, it is alarming how poorly nuns are treated in the Catholic Church. I always kind of knew it and saw it at the church I went to as a child (one nun was extremely popular and the priests recognized this and "marginalized" her to put it kindly) but I read some articles in the last couple of years which really were eye-opening.
I maintain that if the nuns were more powerful in the Catholic Church, the child molestation problem would have ben much less severe. I believe women would not have turned a blind eye to an assault on children as a fraternity of men did.

I knew an ex-nun who worshipped the ground Sinead O'Connor walked on for ripping up that photo of the Pope. Happy memories.
